David is a composer with over ten years of experience, offering music and sound design for film, theatre, television, and digital. He is also the creative director of Anne Voss Film, a full service documentary production company with a focus on social awareness based in Zurich and Berlin.
Most Recent Project
As The Swarm Aesthetic, David recently composed the original soundtrack for Fehler & Irritation, a 45 minute portrait of two young painters who live and work in Berlin. The documentary was commissioned by 3Sat, Germany’s culturally-focussed public service station, and will be broadcast on 29 November 2021. It will then be available for a while in 3Sat’s digital library.
Made in Senegal
This is a trailer for Made in Senegal, which launched 8 April 2020, a feature-length documentary about Liverpool winger Sadio Mané. David worked with producer and director Peta Jenkin, composing the original soundtrack using a blend of orchestral elements, traditional West African instruments, and self-built software instruments.
Made in Senegal is exclusively available on Rakuten TV in Europe and on CANAL+ Group in Africa. It won a bronze award in the Athlete Profile category at the AIPS Sport Media Awards in 2020.
Music and Sound Design
This animation has David’s music and sound design. It’s for the 2019 Bacardí Legacy Cocktail Championships in collaboration with Jenkin Film Berlin and was screened in front of a live audience in Amsterdam to ring in the competition’s grand finale.
It combines Latin House with Afro-Cuban elements to complement Bacardí’s heritage.
Multi-part Documentary
This is a trailer for a 13-part documentary commissioned by Kinderschutz Schweiz, an independent charity promoting the welfare of children in Switzerland, with a focus on the the right to grow up in a violence-free environment.
David co-wrote and directed the project for Anne Voss Film over a period of three years, as well as providing the sound design and composing the original sountrack.

Theatre
This trailer combines prepared cello and sound design from original foley. It’s for a 2016 stage production of Schiller’s Maria Stuart adapted and directed by Ben Naylor at the Embassy Theatre at The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in London.
the swarm aesthetic
David is also part of a collaborative sound project called the swarm aesthetic, which is based on constraints. Each track must be derived from a field recordnig around half an hour in length. All sounds must be taken from the recording in question. No additional instruments may be used.
David’s first official outing as The Swarm Aesthetic is the 45-minute documentary Fehler & Irritation.
